This Star of David Sun Catcher features 13 strands of beautiful beads. They are suspended on a piece of Oregon driftwood. A resin Star of David hangs from the center strand.
From side-to-side, this measures 18 inches across. The beaded strands vary from 9 inches to 21 inches. The driftwood is suspended on hand-braided acrylic yarn with a metal ring to hang it with. Total length when hung, top-to-bottom is 30 inches. The beads are strung on heavy-duty Tiger-Tail jewelry wire.
I used a variety of beads. They include transparent and opaque glass, acrylic, metals, shell pieces, stones, and ceramics. They come in all different sizes and shapes. No two strands are the same.
I hand-cast the Star of David, which has iridescent qualities. It measures 4 inches in height and width. Attached is a swivel connector so it can turn with the breeze.
The beaded strands are attached to the driftwood with "lobster claw" connectors. With this feature, you can arrange the strands in different patterns from what is shown. You can have a different look by simply un-clipping the strands. Additionally, you can detach a strand and use it as a "mindfulness" exercise. Take a strand and concentrate on it, feeling the texture, looking at the colors, calm yourself. Or maybe you can say a prayer with each bead, asking for help, giving thanks, thinking of others.
This sun catcher would look beautiful in front of a window. You may choose to hang it outside or on a covered porch area. Alternatively, it would be gorgeous as a wall-hanging.
This one-of-a-kind sun catcher would be a wonderful gift for any occasion and would brighten anyone's home!
